The Master of Health Sciences in Primary Care is a 3 semester program that is delivered in a hybrid format. It is designed for medical graduates and physicians who wish broaden their knowledge and skills within the field of family medicine.
Students will explore a wide range of medical specialties and gain an understanding of the practice standards and processes involved in the provision of primary care.
The program provides significant real-world experience through a series of clinical placements in practice areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, and psychiatry. Each student will also have the opportunity to study an area of interest through an elective clinical placement.
The program is completed through independent study and experiential learning. Students can work through courses at their own pace, under the guidance of faculty and with the support of peers.
Graduates will be prepared to pursue a family medicine residency program leading to a career as a general practitioner.
To be considered for admission to the program, the applicant must fulfill the following requirements:
Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
If an applicant does not meet the GPA requirement for the program but has relevant experience in the subject area and satisfies each of the other requirements, they will be considered for admission. An interview or prior learning assessment may be requested as part of the admissions process.

The Master of Health Sciences in Primary Care covers a broad range of topics within family medicine. The program can be completed in 3 semesters, or 9 months, however students have the flexibility to complete coursework at their own pace.
